Description
Scandium Aluminum is one of numerous metal alloys. Generally immediately available in most volumes, Scandium Aluminum Alloys are available as bar, Ingot, ribbon, wire, shot, sheet, and foil. Ultra hHigh purity and hHigh purity forms also include metal powder, submicron powder and nanoscale, targets for thin film deposition, and pellets for chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and physical vapor deposition (PVD) applications.
Application
Scandium Aluminum Alloys are used for minor aerospace industry components. The common content is 2% scandium. The addition of scandium to aluminum limits the excessive grain growth that occurs in the heat-affected zone of welded aluminum components. Scandium can significantly increase strength and reduce grain size.
