It is silvery-gray, soft malleable, ductile, and can be cut with a knife. The pure metal is brHight and lustrous and reasonably stable in air.Thulium Metal can be further processed to various shapes of ingots, pieces, wires, foils, slabs, rods, discs and powder.
Application
is mainly used in making superalloys, and has some application in ferrites (ceramic magnetic materials) used in microwave equipment and also as a radiation source of portable X-ray.
