Synthesis method and performance

  • The synthesis method of rare earth sulfate is as follows:
    3H2SO4 + RE2O3 = RE2(SO4)3 + 3H2O
    3H2SO4 + RE2(OH)3 = RE2(SO4)3 + 3H2O
    3H2SO4 + RE2O3 = RE2(SO4)3 + 3H2O
  • Stability: When the rare earth sulfate is heated, RE2(SO4)3 will be obtained at 155-260 ℃. When heated to 850-950 ℃, SO3 will be lost to form RE2O2SO4. When the temperature rises to 1050-1150 ℃, RE2O3 will be formed.
  • Performance: Rare earth sulfates and sulfates of monovalent cations such as alkali metal ions can form rare earth sulfate double salts, which can be represented by xRE2(SO4)3·yM2SO4·H2O, n=0, 2, 8, M is Na+, K+, Rb+ and NH4+ etc. As the atomic number increases, the solubility of rare earth sulfate double salts will increase, and the solubility of light rare earth sulfate double salts is relatively small.
